What we publish
DinkRounds combines a rotating-partner schedule generator, individual scoring, printable score sheets, and a court-time calculator. The guides explain decisions those tools cannot make for you: how much time to reserve, what a bye means, when raw-win standings can be misleading, and how to handle attendance changes.
The tools process rosters and scores in the browser without player accounts. We do not sell equipment, publish player ratings, or operate a tournament registration service. DinkRounds is independent and is not affiliated with USA Pickleball, DUPR, or an equipment company.
How the scheduling search works
For each round, the generator tries at least 500 candidate assignments, increasing that count for larger rosters. It shuffles the roster, fills the usable courts, and compares the three possible doubles pairings within each group of four. A weighted cost favors fewer repeated partners, fewer repeated opponents, varied courts, and more balanced games and rests.
Previously frequent partnerships receive an increasing penalty; consecutive rests also receive a penalty. These objectives share one score, so they can compete. The algorithm is a heuristic search, not an exhaustive proof of the fairest possible full schedule. It commits a round before searching the next one and does not revisit earlier rounds to find a global optimum.
The same names, roster order, court count, round count, and seed reproduce the same schedule in this implementation. Remix changes the seed and searches again. Renaming or reordering players can also change the output. Ratings, fixed partners, avoid-pair constraints, and preferred rest times are not inputs.
What the balance labels mean

A spread is the maximum count minus the minimum count across players. A spread of zero means equal totals. “Repeated partnerships” counts distinct teammate pairs used more than once, rather than the total number of repeat occurrences. The highest partnership count tells you how often the most frequent pair played together.
These labels do not measure skill balance, consecutive opponents, or whether every possible matchup occurred. The per-player game/rest table is the practical check before you print. Mathematical targets on the player-count pages are separate from the result the search actually found.
Calculation and scoring boundaries
The booking calculator assumes full doubles courts and simultaneous timed rounds. It rounds the required rounds upward, includes changes only between rounds, and adds the organizer’s setup/break allowance. It shows a possible balanced game range; it does not prove that a generated schedule meets that range.
The live standings count a game only when both scores have been entered. Wins, point difference, and points scored determine order; an exact tie is displayed alphabetically without declaring a sporting winner. Read the worked scoring example before using the table for prizes.
