What this setup gives each player

Ten players use eight active spots and two rest spots each round. Five rounds create ten rest spots and 40 player-slots, allowing four games and one rest for each person. This is a compact session; five rounds does not mean five games per player.

The shortest arithmetic cycle for equal game totals is 5 rounds: total player-slots must divide evenly by 10. This says nothing about whether partners or opponents all differ. Open “Balance check” in the tool to inspect the actual generated result. Use Next to move between rounds, or Show all rounds to see the full schedule. Turn on Enter scores when you want to track standings.

Fit it into the reservation

The worked plan takes 78 minutes: five 12-minute rounds, four two-minute changes, and ten minutes for setup and breaks. In a 90-minute booking that leaves 12 additional minutes. Use them for a longer warm-up or a planned pause; adding a sixth full round would take the estimate to 92 minutes and change the playing-time distribution.

Handle a late arrival or missing player

The two players resting are part of the schedule, not a fixed bench team. Check that the same people are not waiting together repeatedly. If someone leaves, finish and record the current round, print or copy the existing block, and start a nine-player block. A new schedule does not remember who rested earlier, so use the saved counts to explain any difference in total court time.

The tradeoff to explain before game one

If everyone requests five games, 50 player-slots are needed, but a full two-court round supplies eight. Six rounds provide only 48, which is insufficient. Seven full rounds provide 56; a balanced assignment then gives six people six games and four people five. Use ten rounds if equal eight-game totals matter more than a shorter booking.

If your court count changes

A third reserved court adds no simultaneous doubles capacity for ten people; twelve are needed to fill it. Do not pay for an extra court expecting it to remove the two byes. Use it only for a separately planned activity if the venue allows that use.

The example assumes timed games and two minutes between rounds, with no changeover after the final round. Adapt it with the court time calculator. For the announcement, scoring, and finish procedure, use the organizer guide.

These are social-session planning choices, not sanctioned tournament requirements. Report a calculation or scheduling issue with the counts and sample initials.
